European Medicine Agency’s (EMA) Policies is an international transparency regulation. Policies 0070 & 0043 require data anonymization of all Protected Healthcare Information(PHI) and Commercially Confidential Information(CCI) within clinical data These policies cover a broad range of regulatory documents.

The HIPAA Privacy Rule establishes national standards to protect individuals’ medical records and other identifiable health information. The Rule requires appropriate safeguards to protect the privacy of protected health information and sets limits and conditions on the uses and disclosures that may be made of such information without an individual’s authorization.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law enacted in 1974 that protects the privacy of student education records. FERPA applies to any public or private elementary, secondary, or post-secondary school. It also applies to any state or local education agency that receives funds under an applicable program of the US Department of Education.

Patient Names, Addresses, Discharge Date, Date of Birth, Admittance Date, Death Date, Telephone and Fax Numbers, Email Addresses, Social Security Number, Driver’s License Information, Medical Record Numbers, Account Numbers, Health Plan Beneficiary Numbers, Certification / License Numbers, Vehicle Identifiers, Serial Numbers, Device Identifiers, Names of Relatives, Internet Protocol (IP) address numbers, Bio-Metric Identifiers — including finger prints, and Full Face Photographic Images and any comparable images.
